Pat Roberson - God's Embarassment on Earth

Where to begin.


Pat Robertson's comments about the cause of Haiti's earchquake must leave even his staunchest fans wondering about his sanity.

It's sad enought that he atributes every natural disaster to "God's wrath" on some poor unsuspecting people (Katrina and 9-11 are good examples).

What is even sadder is that his ministry took in over $450 million last year. That means a lot of people around the world actually buy his wacky brand of Christianity.

Not that Robertson acts much like a Christian minister. I think of him more as the Bily Mayes of Christian broadcasting - a hukster who will say anything for attention and viewers.

Where is his compassion? Why isn't he in Haiti feeding the hungry, clothing the poor and healing the sick and injured?

Isn't that what Christ told his followers to do?

Why doesn't he obey Jesus' comand to "love thy neighbor as thyself".

If Christians wonder why they and their faith get such a bad rap they have no farther to look than the cable channel carrying Robertson's 700 Club.

Here you can watch a supposed man of the cloth waxing poetically about how God is punishing Haitians, which vitamins to take, how to eat better, skreeds on government and politics, "news" of the day and a host of other topics.

Perhaps Robertson is just trying to be the Oprah of Christian television.

He also makes sure you hear the pitch to donate money via is telethons.

What you don't hear a lot of is preaching the word of God - his show is more like a combo of QVC, Glenn Beck and Oprah.

Keith Olberman pegged it right last night. they young woman standing next to Robertson during his "analysis" of the cause of the earthquake should have led him off set and back to his room at the home.

I's time for Robertson to retire.

It's also time for all of his supporters to do the right thing - don't send your money to Robertson and the 700 Club - send it where it will do the most good.

Send it to Haitian relief.

That's something God would appreciate.
